The Calder Bar-Height Table brings the column family up to 42 in (107 cm) for drinks rails, wine bars and the standing zone near the bar. The top is a soapstone-grey sintered stone, a darker, quieter tone than the travertine dining tops, which suits low evening light and hides glass rings.
Bar height changes the engineering. A 42 in column acts as a lever on its foot, so the base is a heavier steel plate rather than the dining-height cross, and the column is fixed through a reinforced plate rather than a light flange. A brass foot ring at stool-footrest height gives standing and seated guests somewhere to put their feet, and protects the column from shoe scuffs.
The standard top is 27½ in (70 cm) square, which suits two to four guests with glasses and small plates. Pair it with 30 in (76 cm) bar stools; for a 36 in counter version, use 24–26 in stools.
The soapstone-grey surface can be swapped for the travertine-look top of the dining range when the high-tops share a room with Calder dining tables.
