Tops chosen for the service, not the showroom
01

Tops chosen for the service, not the showroom

A table top is judged on its tenth month, not its first night. We specify sintered stone where hot plates and red wine are routine, real-wood tops where warmth matters more than abuse, and timber-banded inset tops where edges take the knocks. Every quote states thickness, edge and weight per top.

Bases sized to the top, so tables don't rock
02

Bases sized to the top, so tables don't rock

Wobble is almost always a base problem: too small a spread, too light a foot, no adjustable glide. We size every base to its top's width, height and weight, fit levelling glides as standard, and switch to twin bases or A-frames once a top passes four covers.

One drawing set for the whole floor

One drawing set for the whole floor

Two-tops, four-tops, rounds, high-tops and the communal table drawn as one family, with the same edge detail and base language in every size. You approve a single drawing package, we build the complete table schedule, and it arrives labelled by table number.

04How we work
  1. 1

    Brief and floor plan

Send the plan, cover count and service style. We return a table schedule with suggested sizes for two-tops, four-tops and larger parties, plus the top material and base type for each zone.

  2. 2

    Shop drawings

Every table is drawn with top size, thickness, edge profile, base spread, column section and overall height. Nothing is cut until you sign the drawings off.

  3. 3

    Samples

Request finish chips and stone swatches, or a complete pre-production table, so you can check colour, edge feel and stability before the full run is built.

  4. 4

    Production and inspection

Tops and bases are built in our Foshan production base, assembled, levelled and checked against the drawings, then knocked down and export-packed by table number.

  5. 5

    Shipping and set-up

We ship FOB, CIF or DDP as quoted. Bases bolt to tops with pre-set inserts, and glides are adjusted on site in minutes with a standard wrench.

07FAQ
What size restaurant table do I need for two people?

A 24 × 30 in (61 × 76 cm) top is the practical minimum for a two-top in casual dining; 30 × 30 in (76 × 76 cm) gives room for shared plates, wine and bread. Use 24 × 24 in only for café service or drinks. A 30 in deep top also lets two two-tops push together into a 30 × 60 in four-top, which is the most flexible layout for a small room.

How high should a restaurant dining table be?

Standard dining height is 29–30 in (74–76 cm) to the top surface, paired with an 18 in (46 cm) seat, which leaves the usual 10–12 in seat-to-top gap. Counter height is 36 in (91 cm) with 24–26 in stools; bar height is 42 in (107 cm) with 30 in stools. For accessible seating under the ADA 2010 Standards, the dining surface must be 28–34 in high.

Is sintered stone better than marble for restaurant tables?

For most busy restaurants, yes. Sintered stone has very low porosity, so wine, oil and coffee don't soak in, and it tolerates hot plates. Natural marble is beautiful but etches under acids like lemon, wine and vinegar and needs regular sealing. Sintered stone's weak point is a chipped edge, which is why we usually set it inside a solid-wood band or specify a mitred thick edge.

How do I stop restaurant tables from wobbling?

Most wobble comes from four causes: a base that is too small for the top, an uneven floor, loose fixings between top and base, and a base that is too light at bar height. Size the base to roughly 60–70% of the top's width, fit adjustable glides, use threaded steel inserts in the top rather than wood screws, and step up to twin bases once a top reaches about 48 in long.

What base size do I need for a 36 inch round table top?

At dining height a 36 in (91 cm) round top normally sits on a 22 in (56 cm) four-arm cross base or a heavy disc base of about 20–22 in. For bar height, increase the spread, to around 22–24 in, or use a heavier plate, because leverage on a 42 in column is much greater. We confirm the base size on the shop drawing for every top.

Can you make tables to our exact sizes?

Yes. Every Stone & Base table is made to order. Standard sizes are starting points; we redraw tops in the size, shape, thickness and edge your plan requires, and set height for dining, counter or bar service. Each change is shown on the shop drawing for approval before production.
