These two low tables turn the top itself into the decoration. Each has an organic, cloud-like outline and is carved with concentric grooves that follow the shape inward, like rings on water. The two are made at different heights so the larger can slide partly over the smaller, letting staff open or close the pair to suit the seating.
The bases are faceted black pedestals, angular and slightly tapered, which contrast with the soft outline of the tops and stay out of sight beside a curved sofa.
Details to know
- Grooves and cleaning: carved grooves collect crumbs and spills. They work best in lounges and bars where tables carry drinks and small plates, with a soft brush as part of the closing routine.
- Finish: a hard commercial lacquer seals the grooves and edge; 2K polyurethane is advised where glasses sit on the surface all night.
- Trays: a metal tray, as shown, keeps bottles and glasses level on the grooved surface.
Typical sizes are about 31 in (80 cm) across for the larger table and 24 in (60 cm) for the smaller, at 16–20 in (40–50 cm) high. Timber tone, groove depth and base finish are made to order.
