The Wedge Plinth Walnut Table stands on a single four-sided timber plinth that tapers from a broad footprint at the floor to a narrow neck under the top. The silhouette is monolithic and calm, closer to a piece of joinery than to a catalogue table base.
The broad, low footprint keeps the table steady without any metal showing, and the closed form leaves nothing for crumbs or mop strings to catch on. Inside, a steel spine and fixing plate carry the top so the plinth never has to take load through glued joints alone.
The top is a walnut-tone wood surface with a thin, softened edge; on the wider version the top overhangs further and reads as a slim plane floating over the plinth. A hard commercial lacquer protects both top and base against water and cleaning chemicals.
A solid plinth takes up foot space, so we keep it to two-tops and compact four-tops up to about 30 × 42 in. It looks best in rooms with plaster, limewash or concrete walls, where its plain mass stands out.
